Who am I

Hi! I’m Nari Hyun, your otaku bestie product designer with a twist—programming skills! My passion for creating intuitive digital experiences is rooted in my deep understanding of niche, or “mania” cultures. Being an insider in these communities gives me a unique edge in understanding what consumers want and how to deliver unforgettable experiences.

As an undergraduate pursuing a B.S. in Information and Interaction Design, paired with a double major in Computer Science at Yonsei University, I believe that my expertise will bridge design and development. I look forward to craft seamless, user-centered experiences while keeping a finger on the pulse of emerging tech trends.

My inspirations and interests

I’m deeply inspired by the intersection of entertainment and technology, particularly how fans connect with their favorite artists through digital platforms. From virtual concerts to streaming services, the way people experience the entertainment field is constantly evolving, and I’m excited by the potential to shape these experiences. Having been an active member of the 1990s rock scene (big fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers) and a part of Yonsei’s K-Pop club, K-PiQ, I’ve seen firsthand how technology can enhance fan engagement.

Mania culture is another key interest of mine because it offers deep insights into user behaviors. I focus on how passionate communities in music and tech influence the design of products that cater to their specific needs. By immersing myself in these subcultures, I’ve learned how to design experiences that are authentic, engaging, and valuable to users.

I was lucky enough to get the drum stick and guitar pick from the Red Hot Chili Peppers band members.

I even earned a spot on Flea’s Instagram — YES, the bassist from Red Hot Chili Peppers!

Looking ahead

As I continue to explore user experience design and human-computer interaction, I’m particularly excited about how technology can elevate the way people interact with media and entertainment. My goal is to design products that bridge the gap between technology and human connection, creating meaningful experiences that users truly love. By focusing on the unique dynamics of mania-driven communities, I aim to create user experiences that are both emotionally and technically fulfilling.
